Style Imitating Art Time!

This week's Style Imitating Art was nothing short of daunting to me. The colors and the overall aesthetic of the art is quite different than my own. Husband, on the other hand, loved this one.
South Wind, Clear Sky by Katsushika Hokusai

I drew inspiration from the strong but minimal colors and graphics. I barely have any red because it clashes with my coloring so, I am literally wearing every red piece I own in these pictures. Most of this was pulled out of the deep recesses of my closet and I actually had to pull the grayish green (they are more green in person) tights out of my bedroom garbage where I had thrown them a few days earlier for having a holes behind the knee. Luckily, you can't see the holes in these pictures. The red and green are right on for the picture and the belt's crackled pattern ties in quite nicely to the cracks on the mountain.

I find it so interesting how doing this always gives me a greater appreciation for art I wouldn't normally pay much attention to.

See ya later, Alligators!

    1. Thank you! I love these tights so much but this was their last hurrah. They are riddled with holes and I haven't been able to find good ones to replace them...

I love this blog collaboration. It has made me look at art in completely new ways and caused me to put outfits together that I never would have thought of before. It's been great.

    1. Thank you! I've actually never put any of these pieces together before so it was definitely an experiment to see how it all went together.

  3. Noooo you look good in red! Maybe not bright red, but this blood red you have on...it suits you, my dear. The whole outfit is very well put together! And I totally agree about the art appreciation thing--I love art and art history, but there are certainly points in art history that I've glazed over until now. Salazar and Vivienne pick art that is so different from what I pick that it makes me take a second look!

    1. Well, thank you! I might have to reconsider this particular shade of red. I developed my aversion to red after trying a few bright red lipsticks that made me look like a little kid that got into her mom's make up. Eek...
